Still with us? Awesome!
This is the People from the Second Way.
All of us at some point face the thought that we could be doing something better with our time on the planet: Something that helps people or gives something to the world rather than always being on the take or looking for what we can get to protect our comfortable existences. I imagine if any of you work in marketing you either surpress those thoughts or you are wracked with misery every waking hour. That’s a joke, I probably could have picked a number of professions that are equally as useless – finance/local government – I’m still joking.
In fact it occurs to me on a regular basis, what with being a professional show off and all. And of course the truth is that it is not what you do but how you do it…or something like that. But that’s why I wrote it. I don’t think that there are really exceptional people, anyone can be the bringer of Joy or Help or Peace or whatevs. I was kind of hoping that in writing the song I could remember to respond to the bit inside that knows when to do good stuff and help out – act on it rather than just thinking it and then staying quiet.
Anyhoos, enough of the preaching and on with the show.

How did you come up with this amazing song?
More Playlist fun for you.
Seriously This is a tragedy it happened just this way
I was minding my own business when the telephone rang
It was the people from the Second way
They asked to talk to the figure head
They thought that he’d have something to say
They wanted to convince him to take his place at the head of their cavalcade
Come on now we’ve waited a long time for you
There’s a Second Way
You can join up today
There’s a Second Way
Sign up now, don’t delay
I said I don’t know what you’re talking about you’ve clearly made an awful mistake
There’s nobody here but the gardener and he’s out on a break
I’d love to stay on and chat for a while but life gets in the way
And I’m busy living here in Cuckoo land
And I’m busy living here in Cockaigne
Come on now we’ve waited a long time for you
The voice said you should be ashamed of yourself
There are people waiting out here for you
I said you’ve probably entered the numbers wrong because I can’t do what you want me to do
Down the line came an irascible groan I said hey we’ve never had It so good
They said “True but we wanted to dream some more and you promised us that we could”
There’s a Second Way
You can join up today
There’s a Second Way
Sign up now, don’t delay
Today I thought it would be nice to do a little introduction to Mike Lindsay who mixed the album. I think I have explained already but he was introduced to us by Tim Dellow from Transgressive records (our old label). Tim thought it would be a good match and although Mike is not really a “loud guitar” type guy, we thought that might make an interesting change.
To be honest although I love mixing and wanted to mix this record, I had quite a lot on my mind so we thought it would be the perfect time to get someone else to do it. When I mixed our last record it took me months, if not years to get what i wanted from the songs. So we thought we would try Mike out. He did a test mix of Ugly House and we were completely sold.
For those in the know, well you already know him. But if you don’t he is mainly known for being in the “Acid Folk” band TUUNG.
M<ikle also worked with Laura Marling on their collaboration LUMP
Recently Mike has worked with Anna B Savage on his solo project. Which is very good IMO.
Thanks Mike, you done a good job mate.

As we have been putting these pages together we have found more stuff so here is a little update. Some video footage of Memory of Venom recording with the amazing Alice Ream who we completely forgot to mention on the day because we are hopeless and a bit of the singing and Max playing the piano.
